Breast Cancer The sooner you find breast cancer, the higher the likelihood you will be cured. Small breast-cancers (less than 10 mm) are less likely to spread to other organs like the lymph nodes, the lungs, bones and brain. Mammography Screening: In your 20s or 30s, check your breasts regularly and have a breast exam done by your health care provider as part of your physical every one to three years. If you have any extra risk factors such as a strong family history or a palpable lump, then you may need tests to be done earlier. If you are at low risk and in your 40s, have a mammogram every year.
