I have been intrigued by the number of Health Apps that are now being developed for use on the iPhone and Android. Here is an example of a potential life saver that you should know about. According to a news release by the Heart Rhythm Society May 15, 2015, atrial fibrillation (an irregularly irregular heart rate) is said to affect greater than 2.7 million American adults, and that number may more than double in the next 30 to 40 years. Smartphones could help improve detection and management of atrial fibrillation, which is a common problem according to the researchers. 865 people in the study were hooked up with smartphone-enabled electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors.
