DAILY HEALTH TIP- Cool Tips to prevent Heat Stroke.
Record-breaking temperatures are hitting many parts of the country. I have been somewhat surprised at the number of seemingly fit, healthy, young people that I have come across lately, complaining of heat exhaustion post exercise. The following is an updated post on the topic of heat stroke for those of you in that group. The spectrum of symptoms can include heat rash, cramps, syncope or dizziness and heat exhaustion. The most severe condition is known as heatstroke. The medical definition for heatstroke is a body temperature that is greater than 40.5°C(104.9°F) which can be a result of excessive heat exposure due to environmental reasons with inadequate body thermoregulation. Those of you at risk for heat-related illnesses are often in hot climates that do not provide enough shade, water, proper clothing or poor hydration. Drinking too much alcohol is dehydrating and can also put you at risk. Weekend
